Tell us a bit about how it all began? What inspired you to start your business?
Passionate about eating healthy and wanting to make a difference in people’s lives, I launched Right Bite in 2004 to educate my clients about proper nutrition and conveniently provide them with healthy food that enabled them to reach their goals!
What did it take to be where you are today? What are the challenges of a mompreneur?
A lot of hard work, time management and a great support system, both at work and at home!
Based on your experience do you have any advice for moms who would like to start a new business?
I’d just like them to know that you will make a lot of mistakes along the way and that’s ok. The best advice I got and can give anyone is love what you do, be patient, ask for help and listen to others experiences and learn from them.
In what way would you like to inspire others?
Family will always come first, but I’d hope to inspire moms to get out there and do something they love for themselves and to show young girls that with passion and determination they can be anything they want to be.
How do you stay fit on such a busy schedule?
With 3 kids just under 5, a full-time job, daily kitchen visits, and a coffee shop stuck to one of the city’s coolest gyms, I’m always on the move!
What is your favorite meal from Right Bite?
That’s not fair 🙂
Currently, I’m on our Low Carb meal plan and I have been obsessing over the chicken coriander with zoodles! I also love our cauliflower chicken biryani, kale confetti salad, and peanut butter and chocolate bites…
When you had your newborn did you think of launching a baby meal plan?
Yes, I did and many people regularly ask me about this. However, to be honest as a mom myself I enjoy preparing food for my children. I think most mothers share that same feeling. It’s simple and allows you to be creative in the kitchen. There’s also the joy in seeing your baby eat the food you have prepared. Hence did not focus on providing this aspect on a business front. We do however offer meal plans and nutrition consultations to mothers on nutrition in the early years.
Who were your number one supporters? And what was the best advice you have received?
My clients at the nutrition center, my close friends and my family. I was very lucky and had the opportunity to be close to my clients and listen to their needs.
The best advice I received was to do less but better… to focus!
Tell us something you wished others knew about you!
I eat french fries and have a terrible soft spot for all things thyme and dark chocolate.
How do you juggle motherhood and an award-winning business?
Well, one’s always in the air 🙂
It’s not easy but I’m lucky. I’ve managed to create a semi-perfect system that’s miraculously working for my family and my business! My team members are like family and work with all their heart and might, and I’m very fortunate to have a great support system at home.
The people you hire should be? Name 3 qualities
Curious, kind and passionate.
