Have you been avoiding frequent trips to the supermarket? Here are 6 cool freezer hacks to help you store food longer and batch cook without waste.

1) Blanch Fresh Vegetables before storing them
It’s is a great way to save the extra vegetables you bought while knowing that you won’t be using in the short- run. Dunk them in boiling water for about a minute or two, then off to an icy water dip.
Not all vegetables need to be blanched, but the ones that require blanching are green beans, broccoli, asparagus. Brussel sprouts, zucchini, spinach, and other dark leafy greens.
Don’t bother with Lettuce, raw potatoes, celery, cucumber or any veggies with high moisture in them.

2) Know which fruits to freeze
Strawberries, berries, cherries, peaches, plums, and nectarines are great to freeze.
Here’s the trick: make sure you place them on a baking sheet and freeze then separately before popping them all together in a freezer bag – this prevents them from sticking together

3) Yes, you can freeze eggs! Who knew, right?
For this to work, you need to pre-scramble them before… so crack them, beat them, and store them in freezer-friendly containers.

4) Healthy Bread
Healthy bread should not last for more than 3 to 5 days! Anything longer then this is you and your family digesting a mix of preservatives. So to avoid this, you can buy a good batch of your favourite healthy bread, slice it, and freeze it. You can remove a slice from the freezer and toast it directly – This is perfect for sandwiches, jam toast, avocado toast, etc

5) Yogurt
If you are a smoothie lover, this tip will come in handy!
Place your serving size in a freezer bag and pop it in your blender when ready!

6) Ripped Avocadoes
Pop your ripped avocadoes in the freezer. When it’s time to eat, remove from the freezer and place the avocadoes in hot water for 30 minutes. Peel and enjoy! fresh as new 🙂
